US Airways is a giant. It is the fifth largest US carrier and operates right across the US of A to serve 190 communities in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, the Middle East, the Caribbean, Central and South America. It operates over 350 jet aircraft in its main fleet and another 320 smaller aircraft in its regional operations (including US Airways Express) but it has a dark secret kept by its most loyal passengers.. From December 2009 its new business class product across the Atlantic - branded as Envoy Class - is better by far than the more publicised, higher hyped alternatives.
Like US Airways reputation in Europe, its Envoy Class is truly understated but the attention to detail is astounding.
All the basics are there and the whole concept has been thought through from a discerning passenger perspective from start to finish.

For example the Envoy Suite seats don't just recline, they become 6 foot 4 inch fully flat beds.
The cabin layout is unique, with no rear facing oddities - all seats face forward and with the 1-2 -1 layout there is a choice of single or doubles seats and every single one of them has direct and immediate access to an aisle - no more clambering over a stranger in the dark ! Plus they are all angled away from the aisle for greater privacy and have comfort zone technology at the touch of a button.
A side table and a slide out dining table make working and eating comfortable whilst a fully adjustable video screen with both remote and touch screen shows current movies, games and a real time map showing the progress of the flight. Naturally every suite has laptop jack, USB port, universal power point and satellite telephone as standard.
The aircraft is a state of the art of Boeing A330-200 of which US Airways currently have 3 in service with 7 more due this spring and a further 5 due after that. What's even more relevant is that the aircraft with the Envoy Suites are already flying year round from London Heathrow to Philadephia.

And after an immaculate, restful and untroubled journey across the Atlantic, if you're flying onwards to one of the many cities served from its 11,000,000 passengers per year hub at Charlotte, you'll be able to enjoy the US Airways Domestic First Class on the second sector with a minimum connect time of just 1hour 15 minutes.
Alternative Airlines isn't just about promoting small airlines - its also about discovering lesser known big airlines - especially where they have outstanding products which haven't yet received the recognition they deserve. Plus we can guarantee that the US Airways "Value for Money" ethos is never better demonstrated that in the New Envoy Suite.
Currently it's a secret.. Make it your secret next time you're flying transatlantic.. and then tell your friends!!
