The small, independent and innovative airline, Blue Islands has ended 2011 with gift of £2000 of aircraft spare parts to the local aviation charity, Air Search. The spares are to be used to support the Britten Norman Islander aircraft used by the charity to assist people in distress - both at land or at sea -in and around the Channel Islands. Until recently Blue Islands operated the same type of aircraft on its inter island routes, but recently replaced them with more modern Jetstream and ATR-42 aircraft. Blue Islands operate regional services from its bases in Jersey and Guernsey to Bournemouth, Bristol, Isle of Man, London City Airport, Southampton and Manchester plus Zurich and Geneva in Switzerland.
The Channel islands Air Search (CIAS) organisation is called "The Lifeboats' eyes in the sky" and has been operating for 31 years having been launched in 1980. it is staffed entirely by volunteers and funded solely by public subscription. Donations can be made through the CIAS website accessible through the CIAS link above..
Alternative Airlines has a special relationship with Blue Islands and competitive prices for flights to Jersey and Guernsey can be found by using the Blueislands website at www.blueislands.com or calling reservations on 08456 202122.
