Holidaymakers with Fly540 flights to Kenya are among those who should take care to minimise the impact their break abroad has on their destination.

A recent list of world wonders at risk published by Wanderlust magazine revealed that the Swahili island of Lamu in Kenya is one of those that tourists need to be respectful of when they visit.

Dan Linstead, editor of the publication, commented: "Travellers can ... plan their trips to reduce their impact and enjoy a more intimate experience - for example by travelling off-peak [and] staying in small-scale, locally-owned accommodation."

He recommended that jetsetters do plenty of research before they head off to their chosen destination and to try and support smaller local businesses.

Those who head to Kenya on their break may want to take a wildlife tour at one of the many national parks in the country.

Following Mr Linstead's recommendation to opt for less-travelled spots, they may want to forgo a trip to the Masai Mara and look into smaller alternatives.
