Increasing numbers of people opted to purchase Transaero Airlines flights to Moscow and other destinations during January 2011, new figures have revealed.
Data released by the airline showed a steady rise in business during this period, with the number of passengers carried totalling 498,572.
This growth in custom represented a 19.1 per cent year-on-year improvement.
January 2011 also saw the introduction of the world's first non-stop flight between Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.
Transaero Airlines also reopened flights between the Russian capital and Mauritius.
The company recently announced that it was preparing for the summer season by adding more flights between Moscow and a variety of locations around the world, including Berlin, New York and Toronto.
Plans are also in place to expand the number of flights to Ukraine and to increase the volume of transportations between the Moscow and St Petersburg and the far east of Russia.
