Plans to add new Boeing 777-300 extended range (ER) planes to the TAAG Angola fleet will "write history", it has been claimed.

The aircraft will be used to service additional routes, such as direct flights to Beijing and the US.

At the moment, TAAG Angola uses Boeing 777-200 ER planes to offer flights to Sao Paulo, Lisbon and other destinations.

Dr Antonio Luis Pimentel Araujo, chairman of the carrier, commented: "All of Angola can take great pride knowing that the country's biggest airline will continue to write history as we move closer to introducing this new airplane to Angola."

According to the official, the aircraft is widely recognised as the "number one choice" for long-distance travel.

The Boeing 777-300 ER has a maximum range of 7,880 nautical miles and a cruising altitude of 43,100 ft.
