Solomon Airlines is introducing a fourth service to and from Brisbane, Australia, starting 5 December 2010. The national carrier currently flies three times a week on the route.

“After evaluating the effectiveness and growth of the current three services to Australia, together with future prospects of an effective 4th service to Brisbane, we have decided to announce the launch of our 4th service every Sunday at the same prime times to and from Brisbane,” a spokesman said yesterday.
“The total market continues to grow and we have captured a sizeable share and therefore, with consideration to the effective competition level and our potential to grow our share even further, we have made the decision, we should announce this new flight now.”
The spokesman said they have also reviewed their fare structure into next year and are putting into place some added benefits.
“We hope to have these finalised in the next months.”
The spokesman admitted the competition is challenging.
“But we will have the distinctive advantage of four flights weekly from December and this will also help capture the dual markets of VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives) as well as the tourist market offering greater flexibility.
“Naturally there are still some fine tuning of the newly released schedule which needs to have connections to/from the tourist spots in Solomon Islands and these will be completed in the next week.
The only Sunday that this service will not be operating on will be Sunday 26 thDecember being Boxing Day
