RwandAir, the expanding national carrier, is planning to start flying direct scheduled services between Kigali and Lusaka in Zambia now that Rwandair has been granted traffic rights between the two capital cities.

Rwandair will also start flying from Kigali to both Mombasa and Dubai with the new flight scheduled to start on November 3rd 2010 and operating three times each week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Chief Executive Officer, Rene Janata said that the Lusaka route is a great opportunity for the carrier. “This is another big opportunity for the national carrier, if we get the market we will start flying there as soon as possible,” Janata said. The carrier is in an expansion program that has seen them acquire a fleet of two 737-800 Boeing aircraft, Two CRJ200s and two Boeings due for delivery next year. RwandAir is planning to introduce two further new destinations from Kigali to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
