Vacationers planning to book Transaero flights to Russia may soon not have to worry about acquiring a visa after a breakthrough in negotiations between the European Union (EU) and president Dmitry Medvedev.
EU negotiator and the European Commission's director of internal affairs Stefano Manservizi said a new document drawn up called the List of Joint Steps is "groundbreaking", reports Russia Beyond the Headlines.
He stated that the Russian Federation and the EU still need to ensure that the terms are acceptable to both parties.
"Both the EU and the Russian Federation are acting on a totally equal footing as they develop these steps and a future visa-free agreement," he stated.
The official added that it was a "new approach" for the two parties and that among the areas that are covered in the document are passport and security concerns, ways to fight illegal immigration, security coordination and international relations.
Those with Transaero flights booked to the country's capital this summer may want to head to some of the city's many museums, such as the Museums of Natural History and Science and Technology.
