Rosavia, Russia's new state-run airline has attracted bids from Boeing, Airbus and UAC (Russia's state aerospace company) for a $2.5 billion contract to supply as many as 65 narrow-body passenger jets.
Rosavia is 51% owned by the state enterprise Rostekhnologii and 49% by the Moscow city administration. It is taking over the assets of various Russian airlines including: KrasAir, Domodedovo Airlines, Samara Airlines and Atlant-Soyuz Airlines. The new airline is due for a launch in 2011 following delays caused by the global economic recession.
