According to BudgetYourTrip, the average daily travel cost in the country is 228 Romanian leu (£49).
Those who travel to Romania this summer may be in time to catch the Bucharest Street Music Festival, which occurs in the capital's Old Town during June.
Flights to Bucharest may be particularly attractive to students and young travellers in light of one student blogger's recommendation.
Writing for the Guardian, James Waterson noted that a Romanian Railways card will enable visitors to travel between the country's historical cities for less than £10.
He stated that those who head to Romania, possibly on Blue Air flights, may be able to enjoy "beautiful cities, interesting people and cheap drink".
In the recent World Economic Forum Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index, Romania rose three places to rank at number 63 in the world.
