Vietnam Airlines looking towards London for summer 2011
The dynamic and expanding national carrier of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines, is looking to expand its international network of flights by adding a new direct service from Vietnam to London starting summer 2011.

Alternative Airlines understand that the choice of London Airport has yet to be made with both London Heathrow and London Gatwick (now under separate ownership) under consideration. Subject to the usual Government permissions and operating hurdles the new service is due to start at the earliest in June 2011 and will initially operate up to five times per week.
On the domestic front, Vietnam Airlines has started a new route linking Ho Chi Minh City, Dalat and Danang using a 70-seat ATR72 aircraft. on the route, with four days of operation on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
In a further important development Vietnam Airlines joined SkyTeam on June 10 2010, becoming the first Southeast Asian member carrier of the global airline alliance.
