KD Avia licence to fly revoked on 14th September 2009

Russia is revoking KD Avia’s certification on September 12th 2009 putting the airline out of business, the chief of the country’s aviation agency said.

Gennady Kurzenkov, chief of the Russian aviation agency Rosaviatsiya, said Friday KD Avia was given time to inform passengers, personnel and agents of its situation, ITAR-TASS reported.

The airline began as Kaliningrad Avia in 1945 and changed its name in 2005 to differentiate itself from a state-owned company with the same name.

The airline has operated scheduled flights from Kaliningrad to Moscow, St. Petersburg and other Russian cities, as well as destinations in Europe, Turkey and Egypt
