Tourists taking Transaero flights to Moscow may soon find they are able to get around the city more easily as a result of a new project proposed by officials.
Authorities are planning to introduce a multi-lingual Dial-a-Guide telephone service that will connect with 24-hour call centres.
These will field phone calls from people who need information about tourist attractions in Moscow, or help for those who are experiencing problems.
Moscow's Tourism Committee explained that the service will be free and telephones will be placed all over the city to maximise efficiency.
Spokesperson Sergei Shpilko told the Rossiyskaya Gazeta he also plans to bring in digital guide book mobile apps for Moscow to make navigation easier for visitors.
The BBC's H2G2 website states that anyone lucky enough to make friends with a local from Moscow - a Muscovite - will "experience fantastic hospitality and gain a friend for life", as well as an excellent tour guide
