More tourists to head to Tanzania in 2011

A growing number of people are booking flights to Kilimanjaro in 2011, recent figures from the tourism ministry suggest.

Flights to KilimanjaroThose with Precision Air trips booked might be among those making up the extra 13 to 26 per cent forecast to visit the African nation this year, reports Reuters.

Jet-setters heading to the country may benefit from the increased budget allocated to the tourism sector.

Ezekiel Maige, tourism and natural resources minister, told the news provider: "We have doubled the budget for promoting Tanzania as a tourist destination and we now attend more than 25 travel shows a year across the world to showcase our unique tourist attractions."

The country is hoping to attract between 900,000 and one million visitors during 2011.

Last year, a group of celebrities - including Jessica Biel, Emile Hirsch, Santi White and Lupe Fiasco - climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to highlight the global clean water crisis.
