Flights to Ulan Bator may become increasingly popular with British travellers in the coming months, in light of one expert's assertion that people from the UK are starting to book more holidays abroad.
Sean Tipton, a spokesman for ABTA - The Travel Association, told the Independent that during the economic downturn in 2009-10, people were more wary of booking flights with Miat and other carriers.
He explained that the "dramatic" decline in the value of sterling was a contributing factor in the reluctance of Brits to visit foreign nations.
However, he suggested that this trend is starting to change as "people are now beginning to realise that they've missed out".
A recent study by industry analyst GfK Ascent revealed that long haul bookings, such as flights to Ulan Bator, are up two per cent, while short haul trips have seen a 12 per cent increase.
According to Lonely Planet, travellers that head to the Mongolian capital may find it is the perfect location to book excursions into the nation's countryside.
