Lufthansa are planning to go ahead with the new routes to Berlin from Manchester and Birmingham in the UK. Lufthansa already operate 3 flights a day from London Heathrow to Tegal and they have confirmed that they do not plan to make any changes to this service. These new services are planning to commence on 3rd June.
The new flights to Berlin will operate into Berlin's Tegal airport and not the Brandenburg airport as it's opening has been postponed. There is no timescale as to when Brandenburg will open although reports suggest that it will be delayed until at least 2013.
Lufthansa's fleet size out of Berlin airport will incease and will mean that they will be able to operate to 38 cities which nearly all of them are inside Europe. This planned increase in routes for Lufthansa out of Berlin was to coincide with the opening of the new airport, Lufthansa have decided to continue with the expansion but instead operate them through Tegal airport.
