Mexican carrier, Mexicana was grounded this weekend as an attempt to refinance the airline falls through.

Mexicana, Mexico's longest established airline, launched in 1921 stopped all flight operations on 31st August 2010.
The airline, which operated a route from London Gatwick was part of the British Airways led OneWorld alliance and , alliance partner American Airlines stepped in to offer a 20% discount of any published fare for passengers holding tickets for confirmed bookings on cancelled Mexicana flights between the US and Mexico until October 28.
Mexicana and associated companies, low-cost MexicanaLink and MexicanaClick have now all stopped flying. The three airlines had a fleet of over 100 aircraft with 69 aircraft flown by Mexicana.
