Man with Parkinson's disease to scale Mount Kilimanjaro

A man may soon be taking Precision Air flights to Kilimanjaro in order to fulfil one of his ambitions - despite suffering from a degenerative disease.

Flights to KilimanjaroTim Bracher, 51, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease four years ago and now struggles to perform delicate tasks with his hands due to tremors, BBC News reports.

However, he is determined not to let it hold him back and intends to reach the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in October this year.

The valiant climber has already raised £6,100 for Parkinson's UK and hopes to have generated plenty more by the time autumn comes.

"I'm absolutely looking forward to it ... My only fear is that I'll get altitude sickness and not be able to complete the climb," Mr Bracher commented.

Kilimanjaro is situated in north-eastern Tanzania and reaches 5,895 metres above sea level. It is the highest mountain in Africa and was once an active stratovolcano.
