Malév, the flag carrier of Hungary, has launched the sale of tickets on a new five times weekly Boeing 737-600 service between Budapest and Tripoli which is planned to start flying on 23 October 2011. This will be the first as the first such service into Libya since the political troubles operated by a European carrier.by European carriers. The planned link will fly between the capital of Libya and Budapest five times a week. Currently Tripoli airport is closed, but Malév is confident that the situation will be resolved within two months.
Malev currently to 50 cities in 34 countries worldwide using a fleet of 27 aircraft and is an important member of the British Airways led Oneworld alliance. Tripoli is still the political and commercial capital of Oil rich Libya and the indigenous airlines of Libyan Airlines and Afriqiyah are currently grounded.
