Luanda's annual carnival is a growing event and the provincial government hopes the Angolan city will become the top carnival destination in Africa.

The Angolan capital has held annual festivities for some time, but funding from the city and national authorities is helping organisers to put on a more ambitious event, reports afrol News.
Indeed, a budget of $400,000 (£245,000) is reported to have been set aside for this year's carnival, which occurs between March 5th and 9th.
As well as competitions for best attire and most beautiful girl, there will be parades that run through the centre of the Angolan capital.
According to the organisation committee, the aim is to balance "traditional and the modern" and the provincial government has stated that it hopes Luanda will become the continent's top carnival destination.
Last year, Amir Carmeli, who attended the event, told ANGOP that the carnival was a great expression of the national culture.
