Libyan Airlines gets new competitor on Heathrow Tripoli route

British Airline and star Alliance member,  bmi has announced plans to go head-to-head against Libyan Airlines and British Airways on the route between London Heathrow and Tripoli.

The new bmi service will start on December 1st 2010 and will be aimed at the growing oil and oil services industry in Libya. bmi already fly to oil related destinations such as Moscow and Almaty in Eastern Europe as well as  Cairo, Khartoum, Addis Ababa, and Freetown.

British Airways currently flies daily to Libya from Heathrow with Libyan Airlines operating twice weekly plus six times per week from Manchester.
