LIAT is the national carrier of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean.
LIAT’s role is as the high frequency carrier between the islands of the Caribbean. It has two main hubs in Antigua and Barbados. Destinations currently served include Anguilla, Antigua, Barbados, British Virgin Islands (BVI), Dominica, Dominican Republic, Guyana, Grenada, Dutch Antilles, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, St Kitts, US Virgin Islands, St Lucia and St Vincent. LIAT Airlines A great little airline which continues to perform well for its customers, if not always for its shareholders.
In 2006 it saw the arrival of a very experienced British CEO and in 2007 a merger (acquisition?) of competing airline Caribbean Star to form LIAT The Star of the Caribbean. We wholeheartedly recommend this airline, which has always had a smiling face but now possesses a new sense of purpose. Personally we prefer leisurely sailing between the islands but if you’ve got to fly than we suggest you try LIAT.
LIAT operates 17 Bombardier Dash 800 aircraft.
