Sunday
I woke up at around 8am this morning and realised that it was a free morning ! so I got up early, and went for a refreshing morning swim in the pool and then on to breakfast where the view over the river from the restaurant was spectacular.
After breakfast we were off again ! First stop was "marble mountain", named after the 5 elements of universe and a village where carvings were made from the local stone. There was so many steps to climb that by the time we had walked up - and down - everyones' legs were hurting. Next some shopping.. where as a memento I bought myself a laughing Buddha made out of marble.
We then visited a hotel called the Nam Hi. it’s a 6*star hotel.. my first ! and it was magnificent ... the rooms where huge, beautiful and amazing with the most incredible views.,
Next stop lunch at the Ngoc Tuyet restaurant and a spin around Hoi An old town. Here we visited the Japanese covered bridge, quan cong temple, and phung hung Ancient house (where they make hand embroided table cloths, curtains and many more things) while I was there I bought a delicate table cloth which is lovely with beautiful colours and amazing detail.
We then did a bit more shopping, one of the people on the trip bought some shirt tops, the amazing thing is they will measure you and make it to fit and deliver it to your hotel, (I must admit I was unsure as to how they may turn out ..and if they would get delivered. )
When we were walking around the old town we saw three women in around their eighties squatting on the side of the payment cooking food and preparing vegetables, I hope I am that fit and healthy when I am that age. We found the locals very friendly and it was really interesting to see them go about their daily activities.
We then headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner, whilst we were waiting to be picked up we sat in the bar which over looked the river, the staff had lit lots of lanterns and put them into the river it looked beautiful and it was soooo relaxing to watch them drift off downstream. We then went to reception to meet the minibus which took us to dinner.
We arrived at a boat, which had been turned into one big restaurant, it looked stunning .. the restaurant was called ba loc restaurant and the food was especially good. One of the seafood dishes was cooked right in front of us, which I enjoyed as you got to see how the Vietnamese cooked their food, it was such an enjoyable evening.
After dinner we headed back to the hotel where we went to reception to see if the shirts had arrived and.. yes, they had ...and they looked as if they fitted him perfectly, so despite my earlier fears I would advise anyone to do the same. We then sat in the restaurant bar ,where I learnt my next word in Vietnamese which was: Khong! = No!
After we had sat and relaxed for half an hour we then turned in, but had to get our suitcases ready for our flight to ho chi minh the following day. Our rooms here were wonderful with huge bathrooms, (with a hot, powerful shower), a grand balcony with an exquisite view of the river. Paradise !
