Travellers using Albanian Airlines cheap flights to Tirana should make a detour to the city's International Centre of Culture - known as the Tirana pyramid - as the building is set to be replaced.
The famous Albanian building, which has been used for a variety of purposes since it was opened in the 1990s, is going to be pulled down to make way for a new parliamentary complex to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Albania's independence.
Currently, the building is being used as a museum honouring dictator Enver Hoxha, however, activists have claimed that it is time for Albania to move on and replace the pyramid.
Speaking to SetTimes, Maks Velo, a well-known Albanian architect, said: "The pyramid is not the property of Enver Hoxha."
However, another architect, Vladimir Bregu told the news provider: "I cannot believe that an object of such huge monetary and historic value can be destroyed. It is one of the most prominent buildings in Albania."
Recently, official figures were released showing that the number of people taking flights to Tirana has increased during the first half of this year.
