LAM - Mozambique Airlines has announced the suspension of services from Maputo to Lisbon from 22nd November 2011. The regular flights to Lisbon were the only European flights flown by LAM and these were operated on a leased aircraft from European airline EuroAtlantic following a blanket ban on Mozambique carriers by the European Commission.
It has been reported that a new airline company, LAM International will be constituted with plans to operate services to the world's fastest growing economies, Brazil and China as well as other European destinations.
TAP Portugal will increase its services between Lisbon to Maputo and intends to carry any passengers who already have LAM tickets on the route.
