International Consolidated Airlines is the new name chosen for the company created to facilitate the merger of British Airways and Iberia.
The name appears deliberately bland to allow for the continues use of the powerful British Airways, Iberia and One World brands without further market confusion. Plus there has been suggestions that name appears neutrally trans-atlantic to allow for the possible future entry of American Airlines to make one giant airline corporation.
Our view is simple, summarised as follows:
As consolidation amongst the largest airlines continues (for example KLM/Air France in Europe, Avianca/TACA in Latin America) so there is a growing need to promote the lesser known airlines . We feel that flying should be fun and convenient and a wide personal choice of what airline to use for your travel plans is really important.
Alternative Airlines will continue to feature flights on the biggest airlines, regardless of who owns what , but more importantly as the choice at the top shrinks. we will be pushing even harder to promote lesser known airlines and provide the best possible choice of safe,smaller carriers to a growing band of global, discerning customers.
