Hong Kong Airlines to launch all business flights to London Gatwick

Hong Kong Airlines aircraftGrowing Chinese carrier, Hong Kong Airlines has announced the launch of a new daily all Premium Business class service between London Gatwick and Hong Kong. The airline will operate the route from March 08th 2012, with new Airbus A330-200 aircraft with an all business class seating configuration in two classes - Club Premier and Club Classic. Hong Kong Airlines has a current route network covering 25 cities in Asia and Europe but this is their first venture into the all-business class, premium marketplace.

Club Premier cabin will include 34 ‘suites’ with fully flat 6’1” beds with a fine dining service with individual table settings, superior wines and champagne; turndown service with duvets, pyjamas and slippers and luxury amenity kits.

Club Classic will have 82 cradle seats with a 51” seat pitch and superior dining.

The aim of the airline is to create an atmosphere similar to one experienced in an executive jet. Lufthansa have all business class services from their base in Frankfurt and British Airways operate something similar from London City to New York(via Shannon) using the old Concorde flight number BA001. London to Hong Kong is a very competitive route with airlines such as British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Qantas, Air New Zealand and Virgin Atlantic offering direct services.
