GOL swallows rival WebJet

It is happening across the globe from Mature markets to the over-heating economies of BRIC, airline consolidation continues with a major coup for dynamic Brazilian carrier, GOL as it takes over rival WebJet. The deal will push Gol's share of the Brazilian domestic air travel market to over 41% and give the combined airline group a fleet of 140 aircraft - all Boeings. Gol already has the well known Varig brand in its stable and is clearly consolidating its position before the proposed TAM/LAN merger is finalised. Gol is floated on the New York stock Exchange and should have no problem paying the reported $61 Million price tag of WebJet.
