Gol of Brazil to get Delta airlines injection

Gol airlines planeGol Linhas Aéreas , the second largest airline in Brazil and quoted on the New York Stock Exchange, has announced that is in discussions with giant U.S. carrier Delta Airlines aimed at Delta becoming a major shareholder. Since being established in 2000, Gol has grown into a major domestic carrier with over 34% of the Intra-Brazilian market and since the acquisition of the world famous brand, Varig in 2006, has nearly 10% international market share. Delta is a founding member of the important Skyteam alliance and whilst Gol is currently not part of any formal alliance it currently operates more than 940 daily flights connecting 51 domestic destinations in Brazil and 11 international markets in South America and the Caribbean and these flights are now being linked to Delta's extensive global network.
