Individuals who book flights to Kigali for a gap year may find they are better placed when it comes to applying for a university place when they return, it has been suggested.
James Chapman, director of Outreach International, observed there are many students who complete their A levels with top grades.
However, he said those who book Rwandair flights or trips overseas with other airlines may find they are in a stronger position when they try to get a place at university.
"I think having done a constructive project, working on a medical project, or teaching at an orphanage, looks more creative and shows a certain quality of character," he commented.
He added that having trips of this kind on a CV "looks really good", which may make travel of this kind appealing to those who have left university and are searching for jobs.
While in Rwanda, those on gap years may wish to visit the Parc National Des Volcans, which is home to a number of volcanoes that form the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
