New statistics have been released by the International Air Transport Association.
People booking Vietnam Airlines flights to Hanoi may be pleased to know they are likely to have a very safe journey when travelling to their destination.
New figures released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have revealed the global accident rate for aircraft in 2010 was 0.61.
This is the equivalent of one accident in every 1.6 million flights and is a "significant" improvement on the previous year's results, the organisation stated.
Furthermore, compared with ten years ago, the accident rate has been reduced by 42 per cent.
Director-general and chief executive officer of the IATA Giovanni Bisignani said: "Safety is the number one priority. Achieving the lowest accident rate in the history of aviation shows that this commitment is bearing results. Flying is safe."
One way in which travellers could save money when planning their Vietnam Airlines flights is to make arrangements well in advance.
Editor of Adventure Travel Magazine Rosie Fuller recently said the earlier people book, the more likely they are to get cheaper deals.
