Kenyan airline, Fly540 has added a new scheduled service between Mwanza (tanzania) and Nairobi to operate three times each week,
The new services will start on January 11 2010 and will be operated by the new 50-seater CRJ-100 jet aircraft on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The recent acquisition of the CRJ-100 will be followed by an additional jet and turbo prop aircraft to support further expansion of the airline's operations in the region.
Mwanza becomes the second destination in mainland Tanzania for Fly540 and follows the introduction of services between Kilimanjaro and Nairobi last year. The airline also operates two daily flights between Zanzibar and Nairobi. The airline has hubs in Tanzania and Uganda. There are also plans to open up hubs in Angola, Ghana and Zimbabwe,
In November 2006, it commenced operations with a daily flight between Nairobi and Mombasa for local and overseas business and holiday travellers. It now has nine destinations in Kenya with regional services to Entebbe, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza and Bujumbura. Mwanza is a city in northwest Tanzania and a southern port of Lake Victoria. Regions bordering Mwanza region are Kagera to the West, Shinyanga to the South and South East. The North East borders the Serengeti and Mara region. The northern part of Mwanza is surrounded by Lake Victoria which separates the region from neighbouring countries of Uganda and Kenya.
