According to What's on When, the annual event, which got underway in 1959, is one of the biggest on the cinematic calendar.
Full details are yet to be announced, however entrants will be competing for the Golden St George - awarded for best film - and Sliver St Georges - which go to the best director, actor and actress.
There was a distinctly international fee to last year's event, with winners hailing from countries such as the Czech Republic, Poland and Venezuela.
An international panel of judges decides on the victors and in 2010 named Hermano (Brother) - directed by Marcel Rasquin - as best film.
Also taking place in Moscow over the coming months is the Golden Mask Festival which celebrates Russia's best theatre productions.
