Holidaymakers booking trips to Africa may be pleased to hear that Ethiopian Airlines has scooped a top award for its services.
The carrier won Bombardier Aerospace's 2010 Annual Airline Reliability Performance Award as a result of its performance last year, nazret.com reports.
Its dispatch reliability had increased to 99.3 per cent by the end of the year, something which helped to make Ethiopia more accessible to people travelling for both business and pleasure.
Furthermore, the introduction of new Q-400 aircraft catered for the additional capacity of passengers and increased safety and comfort.
The ceremony for the awards was held at the Canadian Embassy in Addis Ababa earlier this month.
"Ethiopian Airlines achieved the highest overall dispatch reliability and stood first in the overall Q-400 product category for the Middle East and Africa region," Bombadier commented.
Ethiopian Airlines recently announced that it is planning to retire a number of its fleet in order to accommodate the new Bombardier Q-400NextGen turboprops and a 787 Dreamliner, reported defenceWeb.
