Ethiopian Airlines receives new Boeing 777-200LR

Ethiopian Airlines has expanded its fleet by taking delivery of a new aircraft.   The Boeing 777-200LR arrived at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport last Friday (January 28th) and will be the company's third plane of this kind.

It will be used to carry passengers from Seattle and Washington and is part of Ethiopian Airlines' plan to increase its global network of flights and services. The aeroplane is the longest range commercial aircraft in the world and the flight operator wishes to add two more to its fleet by the end of 2011.

As well as the 45 aircraft it currently owns, the business has 34 on order direct from manufacturers, including ten 737-800 Jets, ten 787s and 12 A350-900 planes.

It is hoped the expansion will allow Ethiopian Airlines to offer its customers improved and enhanced products with a technologically and environmentally advanced fleet.

The operator, which has won several awards, currently flies to 55 global destinations and was founded in 1945 before going into operation in 1946.
