

New regional airline, Equatorial Congo Airlines (ECAir), has operated its first flight from the capital of Congo Brazzaville to Pointe-Noire and the Government of Gabon has announced plans to launch a new national airline replacing defunct carrier, Air Gabon and Gabon Airlines.
EC Air will fly three times daily between Brazzaville and Pointe-Noire using a Boeing 737-300 with 120 seats The new service will offer 12 seats in business class and 108 in the economy cabin. The Boeing aircraft is currently being operated by Geneva-based VIP business carrier PrivatAir in order to avoid the European Union blacklist in place against all Congolese airlines.
The new Gabonese airline is planned to start flying early in 2012 to co-incide with the start of the prestigious Football tournament African Nations Cup which Gabon is co-hosting with its neighbour Equatorial Guinea.
