EU Blacklist now covers 273 airlines banned from Europe

The EU Blacklist of named 273 airlines currently banned from flying into Europe has expanded again following its latest revision published earlier this week.

Airlines named for the first time include Equatorial Congo of the Republic of Congo, Stellar Airways of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Aero Majestic Airways and Interisland Airlines of the Philippines plus Jordan Aviation of Jordan and Rollins Air of Honduras. However TAAG Angola is now  allowed to add another two  Boeing -777-300 aircraft to those already able to operate into the EU.

The updated European list includes all airlines certified in 21 States, whose operations are fully banned in the European Union, these are : Afghanistan, Angola, Benin, Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon (with the exception of three carriers which operate under restrictions and conditions), Indonesia (with the exception of six carriers including Garuda Indonesia), Kazakhstan (with the exception of one carrier which operates under restrictions and conditions), the Kyrgyz Republic, Liberia, Mauritania, Mozambique, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Sudan, Swaziland and Zambia.

The number of airlines banned continues to grow and whilst many of teh airlines named do not have any need or intention to fly into teh EU, it is clear that over time this action is pushing airlines and authorities across the globe to improve their operating standards and regulatory over sight to avoid inclusion on this increasingly important document.
