Many years ago when easyJet was a mere twinkle in the eye of Stelios and it was posssible that it would be called "EC JET", a connection was made between the budding airline owner and the callow youth who was responsible for Business development at Luton Airport.
After much negotiation easyJet not only launched its first ever flights from Luton Airport but also set up its easyLand home there, courtesy of that initial connection made by the management team which now run Alternative Airlines and the once callow , but now a wise and emminent figure in the world of international charter broking, youth. So it with sadness that we hear the news that the relationship is possibly heading for an acrimonious divorce with easyJet threatening to move its aircraft to neighbouring Stansted.
In the difficult world of airports, who have development timescales measured in decades; airlines who plan years ahead and low cost passengers who make decisions often based in hours & days, enduring mutually beneficial relationships are usually the key to profitability.. Lets hope that this issue resolves itself and those regular passengers who currently use the orange machines from Luton can continue to do so.
