EasyJet becomes DelayJet

EasyJet becomes DelayJet

It's awful to see an airline, which was one of the best, deteriorate within a season to one which we say 'book with caution". EasyJet once the proud owner of a reputation as the best low cost airline in Europe has seen its on time performance decline dramatically during this summer.  from personal experience  (i have been delayed twice flying easyJet recently from Gatwick  and from the experience of my colleagues ("it was chaos trying i get EasyJet back from Rome" ..said Kat) then the newspaper headlines which have declared EasyJet's online performance from Gatwick to be worse than Air Zimbambe's are true. In my experience everything was made worse by a Captain's sulleness towards departing passengers including his refusal to answer questions about the reason for the delay and an inbound cabin attendant using unreasonably foul language as we got off the aircraft, which was not parked on an air jetty and which took ages to get us all to a domestic arrival gate by coach. Yuk!

The war between the owner Stelios and the Board of Directors is well documented but cannot be helping staff morale. The arrival of a new CEO hopefully will force improvements but until then we're staying clear and looking where ever possible at flying alternatives on the short-haul routes ex Gatwick. Particularly worth a try are the exceptionally civilised double daily services of Air Europa from Gatwick to Madrid (look out for the ultra polite, very helpful and surprisingly English Air Europa Station Manager at check-in) and the new Monarch Airlines service from Gatwick to Palma (its always a pleasure to fly Monarch).

We are hoping for improvements as EasyJet used to be one of our favourites, so as soon as we get some positive evidence we'll blog it here..
