Dark Days for Aer Lingus?

Trouble rarely comes alone and Aer Lingus is certainly suffering from troubles appearing like No 74 buses in London's Oxford Street..... Today they have to contend with a strike closing the three main Irish Airports Dublin, Cork and Shannon; yesterday their Chief Operating Officer/ Deputy CEO, Niall Walsh (a man we have dealt with personally and hold in the highest regard) resigned with immediate effect after 16 years; last week the airline announced its retreat from London Gatwick and before that their Chief Financial Officer, a young gun hired from Ryanair 16 months ago, also left the company.

There is a new man at the helm as CEO these changes comes as Aer Lingus is being buffeted by the recession whilst seeking to finalise a big cost rationalisation programme with staff that will lead to about 676 redundancies. Next Week the airline is due to outline its latest strategy to the City of London, we wish them the best of (Irish) Luck !
