Eco-friendly jet-setters might want to consider booking flights with TACA to Costa Rica, as the country has made it into the Ethical Traveler's list of The Developing World's 10 Best Ethical Destinations.
It was the only developing nation to score in the 85-100 band in the environmental policy protection index.
The list was created by focusing on environmental protection, social welfare and human rights in all of the countries examined.
In the year before last, Costa Rica featured in the top ten, but it dropped out in the 2009 to 2010 rankings.
Other countries included in the list of top ethical destinations included Argentina and Uruguay.
According to Guardian writer Tim Ecott, the islands of Malpelo and Cocos in the Eastern Pacific are in the top ten dive sites in the world.
He described the spots as "stunningly beautiful" and said those who dive there might be able to witness large schools of tuna and jacks, as well as a number of species that are found nowhere else, such as the red-lipped batfish.
