Ms Smith's observation that it is possible to drink the tap water and that the main roads are of a reasonable quality may also encourage Britons to book TACA flights in the future.
According to Lonely Planet, activities that are popular in Costa Rica include wildlife spotting, visits to an active volcano and ziplining through the jungle's canopy.
