COPA Airlines reports increase in passenger numbers

COPA Airlines seems to be an increasingly popular carrier as recent figures published by parent company COPA Holdings revealed a surge in passenger numbers last month.

International traffic rose by more than one-third year-on-year in June 2011, while overall there was a 28.3 per cent increase.

Over the course of the last 12 months, the company increased its capacity by 27.7 per cent, which may mean those booking flights to Panama will have a greater variety of options available to them.

The vast majority of the capacity of the COPA Holdings' airlines was taken up with international flights, which accounted for more than 90 per cent of the total.

COPA Airlines has 20 Boeing 737-800s in its fleet, which have between 14 and 16 business class seats available on them.

The firm claims that its collection of aircraft is one of the "most modern in the world" and it was the first airline in Latin America to operate Boeing 737-800 planes.
