COPA Airlines is already working on expanding its network across Panama, but there is the potential for the carrier to grow even more, it has been claimed.
The latest World Airlines Rankings from Airline Business magazine revealed that the company is the sixth largest operator in Latin America, ahead of major firms such as Aerolineas Argentinas.
According to the report, there are other carriers such as Avianca that could pose a challenge to COPA Airlines if it continues to increase the number of trips south it offers.
However, it stated: "COPA is well-entrenched and has more room to grow at Panama's airport."
Earlier this month, COPA Airlines revealed that its consolidated traffic figures demonstrated a 28.3 per cent increase in June 2011 compared to the same period in the preceding year.
Revenue passenger miles data showed that the firm's international service also increased, rising by 34.9 per cent over the course of the last 12 months.
