Climbers keen to book Precision Air flights to Africa to take on Mount Kilimanjaro, the continent's tallest peak, have been advised that the hike is an "emotional experience".

Speaking to the Edmonton Journal, businessman Grant Ericksen, who climbed the mountain 12 years ago and is about to attempt it once more, observed that the view from the top is "beautiful".

The peak is the tallest free-standing mountain in the world at nearly four-miles high and it is situated near the northern border of Tanzania.

"It's a very emotional experience; it's almost a meditation. You go within yourself," Mr Ericksen stated.

Those who attempt the epic climb may want to prolong their stay in Africa and visit the Serengeti National Park to spot some of the world's most impressive wildlife.

Famous for the big five - lions, wildebeest, leopards, rhinos and elephant - there is a plethora of other creatures in the region, including hyenas, giraffes and cheetahs.
