About Mexicana de Aviación
Mexicana de Aviacion is Mexico's oldest airline and Mexico's biggest and flagship airline. The airline was founded in 1921 and ceased operations 89 years later in 2010, later declaring bankruptcy in 2014. In 2023, the Mexican government purchased the Mexicana brand and announced plans to relaunch it as a state-owned airline, operated by the military. In December 2023, Mexicana officially relaunched operations under the management of SEDENA - the Mexican Ministry of Defense.
In addition to domestic services, Mexicana operates flights to international destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, South America and Europe. The airline's primary hub is Mexico City's Felipe Ángeles International Airport. Now, Mexico is a massive travel hub for Latin America with many alternative airlines to choose from, so we can still get you on your way!
Mexicana's main competitors are Aeromexico and low-cost carriers such as Interjet and Volaris.
In 2005, Aerocaribe was renamed Click Mexicana and replaced its fleet of McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30s with Fokker 100 twin-jet aircraft. Click was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mexicana de Aviacion. Mexicana rebranded Click Mexicana as Mexicana Click with the announcement of the new corporate livery in November 2008. Mexicana operated a frequent flyer program called Mexicana Go to reward regular passengers with Mexicana.
Cabin Classes
Mexicana Air offers "Clase Elite", or business class, on all flights. Warm meals are served on all domestic and international flights longer than 40 minutes. Passengers also receive snacks throughout the flight, a selection of meals, and refreshments. The seats on the Boeing 767-300ER are 23 inches across and recline at 160°; while seats on the Airbus 320 are 22 inches across and recline at approximately 100° degrees. The seats are dark blue with small Aztec logos embossed on the seat and a white headrest cover displaying Mexicana's logo in black.

Carry-On Baggage
Each passenger is permitted to carry-on one bag and one personal item such as a laptop bag, handbag, or briefcase.
The carry-on baggage must not exceed maximum dimensions of 55 x 25 x 40cm. It also cannot weigh more than 10kg combined with the personal item.
Checked Baggage
Each piece of checked baggage could not exceed the maximum dimensions of 158 cm (length + width + height) and total weight of 25kg.
Check-In
Online Check-In
Mexicana will provide online check-in options once it has finishing relaunching. For the time being, you will need to check-in for your Mexicana flights at the airport.
Airport Check-In
To check in for your Mexicana flight, you can do so at the airport check-in counters. We recommend arriving at the airport at least 2-3 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart - this is to allow yourself enough time to clear security procedures and reach your gate in time.

Felipe Ángeles International Airport
Felipe Ángeles International Airport is situated in Zumpango, 35km north of Mexico City. It opened in March 2022 to ease congestion at Benito Juarez International Airport. The airport primarily serves domestic flights with some international destinations available. There are 3 runways available with a modern terminal and future plans for hotels and cargo warehouses.
The airport is operated by the Mexican government and managed by the country's Ministry of Defense (SEDENA). Airlines that currently fly to/from this airport include Viva Aerobus and Aeromexico Connect.
Fleet
Mexicana de Aviacion relaunched with a leased Boeing 737-800 that operates 15 routes. It also has select flights operated by TAR Aerolineas with its two wet-leased Embraer ERJ-145LR aircraft.
