Travel insurance advice has been offered to people who may be booking Philippine Airlines flights to Manila.
The Irish Independent states that one of the most important things to do is give the policy document a thorough once over.
Similarly, taking emergency numbers on the trip is essential.
If holidaymakers have arranged their cover using an online price comparison site, the publication urged them to ensure they know which company has provided the cover.
This is because, should there be an emergency, the big-name companies will most likely want to respond to the problem and help their customers.
"Be wary of very cheap policies. Check the coverage, particularly the summary of benefits," the newspaper continued, adding: "Travel insurance is a competitive market so shop around."
Writing for the Daily Telegraph recently, Rosie Murray-West said that it can be cheaper for older holidaymakers to take out an annual policy if they plan to jet off more than once a year.
