People booking Air Europa flights to Caracas may be keen to get involved and soak up some of the local culture when they arrive at their destination.   If this is the case, one event that could be just up their street is Nazarene of San Pablo, which takes place in Venezuela on Holy Wednesday every year, What's on When reports.

This year, the celebration will be held on April 20th at the Santa Teresa Basilica and will see local people attend mass and offer orchids to a statue of Jesus.

They dress in holy purple for the occasion and carry a statue of Christ on the cross decorated with an arch of blooms through the streets.

When the sun sets, this effigy - along with a statue of Mary and San Juan - is then marched around Caracas with everyone following, the news provider continues.

This could be a wonderful experience for people visiting the location and they can also pick up trinkets, icons and purple tunics from vendors lining the roads of the city - which is located at an altitude of around 800 metres above sea level.
