Calm Air is a regional carrier based in Winnipeg and operates flights within Manitoba and Arctic region of Nunavut. Originally formed in 1962 as a charter airline the airline has developed into an operation which supports the regional communities of Manitoba with regular passenger and freight services. Calm Air also has extensive services in the northerly Arctic region of Nunavut where it works in partnership with governments, Inuit associations, and tourism operators to promote new tourism opportunities which offer the local Inuit population a sustainable means of economic growth whilst preserving their culture and heritage. There is no in-flight service on most Calm Air flights but snacks and drinks may be purchased on board, however, there is an enhanced service on flights operated by SAAB 34 aircraft
