Brits with TACA flights booked so they can enjoy a beach holiday in a far-flung location such as Costa Rica have been urged to pack a sensible number of clothes.

Ally Oliver, fashion commentator and assistant editor of Closer Magazine, observed that most women pack at least 25 per cent more than they require.

She recommended only taking items that are favourite garments or useful pieces to have in the wardrobe.

For those planning a stroll along sandy beaches - for example one of the many on the stunning Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica - she recommended putting some white clothes in the suitcase.

"Take cosmetics which have double or triple uses, buy shampoo when you get there and take no more than three pairs of shoes - and that includes flip flops," she added.

Among the Blue Flag beaches that those flying to Costa Rica with TACA may want to visit are Playa Bahia Junquillal, Playa Hermosa and Playa Zapotal, all of which are on the Gold Coast.
